The author provides a concise summary of a Gartner report (which otherwise must be purchased) in which researchers confirm that SaaS is growing steadily as a result of leaner economic times. The author suggests growth will accelerate as integration problems are addressed and SaaS adoption thus becomes less of a issue.

Jim Herbold, VP at Box.net, claims that the tipping point of the cloud is here. Herbold describes “connected clouds,” wherein online services from different providers are fully integrated within a given organization. The ability to create connected clouds, Herbold argues, comes from the open standards and APIs popular among cloud service providers. Cloud integration, Herbold argues, is now easier than server-based integration.
Cloud computing alleviates post-merger integration headaches (IT Business Edge)
The author here explains that cloud computing has alleviated many of the integration headaches caused when a merger or acquisition changes the nature of a product. When once customer’s were responsible for updating the product on their own, SaaS providers are now able to perform the integration for them. It’s likely that customer gratitude can extend beyond good will into increased sales and loyalty.
