Commentators evaluate Boomi Atomsphere Spring 11

Java Message System praised, but not all users are excited

Dell this spring updated it’s Boomi Atomsphere cloud integration suite. The update includes a Java message service that integrates with middleware from Progress, TIBCO, webMethods, and other similar products, improved integration with Salesforce.com, and a new API available in REST and SOAP protocols.

Charles Babcock at InformationWeek writes that with the new Java Messaging Service, the Boomi connector allows a total of 70 SaaS applications to be integrated.

Steve Wexler at NetworkComputing.com looks at the business logic behind the Boomi Atomsphere Spring 11 update. He quotes several analysts who believe Dell’s continued commitment to supporting Boomi after buying it last November, rather than gutting it as other potential buyers might have, is a smart move.

Mark Brunelli at SearchDataManagement.com speaks with two users who do not welcome the upgrade. They believe that the update offers little value over Boomi’s competitors and over previous versions. Both found Boomi to be cumbersome and restrictive.
