newScale, rPath, and Eucalyptus collaborate on platform; HP buys Stratavia

E-commerce tool provider newScale, system automator rPath, and open source infrastructure provider Eucalyptus Systems have collaborated to provide an integrated platform designed to help companies transition to private and hybrid cloud computing. The platform will include infrastructure and software from each company. The release cites a Forrester report indicating that private cloud computing is a good bet for companies who do not have the resources or expertise to jump into the public cloud environment.
HP buys Stratavia (Press release)
Hewlett Packard yesterday acquired database and application automation provider Stratavia for undisclosed terms. The deal is intended to strengthen HP’s cloud service automation offerings by improving the deployment of middleware and packaged applications in the cloud. And when deployment is easier, integration is often easier: Less time is spent making the newly deployed application function and instead can be spent getting it to work with others.
